Lagos Life Money: How to Earn and Spend Naira
How the Lagos Life economy works: job pay, rent, food and transport prices, tax bands and the no-cash-out rule. Verified in-game on October 6, 2026.
Money in Lagos Life is in-game naira. You earn it mostly from your job, spend it on rent, food, travel and furniture, and the game even has a tax system. This guide gives the real prices we checked in the game on October 6, 2026, and the one rule every player should know: naira cannot be turned into real money.
How you earn
- Your job. Every career pays per shift, from ₦6,600 at the bottom of a ladder to ₦99,000 at the top. The full list is in our jobs and salaries guide.
- Daily goals. The game gives short goals such as “Make ₦15,000 today”, “Do a side gig” or “Eat at Amala Shitta”, and a daily gem hunt with prizes (the screen we saw offered ₦3,000 for the next one).
- Your starting origin. A Nepo Baby begins with ₦500,000 and a bank job; a Lapo Baby begins with a ₦60,000 loan. See nepo vs lapo.
Quick cash: side gigs
Besides your job, a few activities pay straight away. These are the ones we found in the game’s data:
| Gig | Where | Time | Pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| Help at the Buka | Amala Shitta | 1 h 30 min | ₦1,750 |
| Carry Load (Alabaru) | Balogun Market | 2 h | ₦2,250 |
| Report a Crime | Eko Police Division | 30 min | ₦2,000 |
What you spend it on
| Cost | Price |
|---|---|
| Rent (collected every Saturday) | ₦1,200 to ₦1,500,000 per week, depending on the home |
| Moving home | 3 times the weekly rent |
| Amala and Ewedu | ₦300 |
| Pepper Soup and Cold Drink | ₦400 |
| Jollof, Dodo and Chicken | ₦550 |
| Efo Riro, Ponmo and Semo | ₦650 |
| Keke or danfo ride | from ₦100 |
| Okada ride | from ₦150 |
| Cab ride | from ₦300 |
| Furniture | from ₦1,800 (a foam mattress), 69 items in the shop |
| Lapo loan repayment | ₦12,000 per week for 6 weeks |
The housing guide has every home and its rent, and the transport guide has the fare table.

A sample of prices from the game, from a cup of zobo to a first car. Bars use a logarithmic scale, so each step to the right is a multiple, not an equal amount.
A simple weekly budget
A Lapo Baby in Yaba working a Tech intern job earns ₦9,900 for each of five shifts, which is ₦49,500 a week. Rent is ₦6,000 and the loan repayment is ₦12,000, so ₦31,500 is left for food, travel and furniture. Moving up the career ladder is what grows that number.
Growing your money beyond a job
Once you have savings, the game offers three ways to put naira to work. All three are from the game’s data and are not yet tested in play:
- Businesses: 8 businesses from a ₦150,000 data kiosk to a share of Quilox, plus a haulage trailer.
- Land: 6 plots from ₦250,000 to ₦150,000,000, each with a growth rate and an omo-onile risk factor.
- Cars: 26 vehicles from a ₦350,000 Bajaj Boxer to a ₦12 billion Bugatti; fuel is the only running cost.

Tax
The Bank app spells out the tax rules. The first ₦1,000,000 you earn each week is tax-free; after that the rate is 20%, then 40% above ₦10,000,000 and 45% above ₦50,000,000. Tax is taken from pay automatically, bets, sales and gifts are not taxed, and the weekly count resets every Monday. At early-game pay the app shows “0% now”.
| Band (per week) | Rate |
|---|---|
| First ₦1,000,000 | no tax |
| Up to ₦10,000,000 | 20% |
| Up to ₦50,000,000 | 40% |
| Above ₦50,000,000 | 45% |
Weekly bills
The Bank app lists your weekly bills. For our Yaba self-contain it shows “Rent · Self-contain ₦6,000, due Saturday, 9 AM”. The Lapo loan repayment did not show up there on the day we checked; we will report what happens on the first Saturday.
Clothes and food delivery
The in-game Lagos Boutique sells outfits, and Chowdeck delivers food to your home only. Prices we saw:
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Tee and jeans | ₦15,000 |
| Crop top and jeans | ₦18,000 |
| Adire two-piece | ₦38,000 |
| Ankara gown | ₦45,000 |
| Streetwear fit | ₦65,000 |
| Tailored suit | ₦250,000 |
| Party Jollof Combo (Chowdeck, home delivery) | ₦750 |
Top-ups
There is a plus button next to your wallet balance and a green “Top up wallet” button in the Bank app, and the official wallet top-up is the only way real money enters the game. Everything else in the economy is earned in play. We have not tested the payment flow and do not recommend topping up anywhere other than the official game.
The rule: no cash-out, ever
The official terms are explicit: in-game currency has no real-world value and cannot be cashed out. That means:
- Nobody can legitimately buy your naira, a house or an account from you.
- “Investment” schemes built around Lagos Life money are not part of the game.
- If a site or person promises to convert naira to real money, report them and walk away.
This is why this wiki will never publish cash-out content.
Quick money FAQ
Can players send naira to each other? No. We checked the Messages and Contacts apps and found no way to send naira to another player. The Bank’s money history only records transfers between partners. Players sometimes ask strangers for money in chat; the game gives no way to send it, and the official terms bar turning naira into real money, so never accept or offer an off-platform “deal”.
Can I play without paying anything? Yes. The game is free and top-ups are optional.
What happened to the big balances? Business Day Nigeria reported an early exploit that inflated some players’ virtual currency, and that affected accounts were reset. See the updates log.
