Lagos Life NEPA: Power Cuts, Generators and Solar Costs
How to deal with NEPA power cuts in Lagos Life: the ₦14,400 generator, ₦1,200 fuel, ₦78,000 solar and inverter, the ₦1,100 lamp, and why the AC stops.
NEPA is the old name for Nigeria’s power company, and in Lagos Life it is the joke about blackouts: “NEPA took the light”. The game has a power system built around it. This page lists what you can buy to keep the lights on, with prices from the game’s data tables on October 6, 2026.
Ways to survive a power cut
| Item | Price | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Rechargeable lamp | ₦1,100 | An emergency light |
| “I Better Pass My Neighbour” generator | ₦14,400 | Sits outside in the yard and powers the house when NEPA takes light; needs fuel |
| Generator fuel | ₦1,200 for 8 hours | Refuel from the generator |
| Solar and inverter | ₦78,000 | “Silent, free, 24/7 light”: a one-time fix |
| Split air conditioner | ₦650,000 | Only works when there is power |
When the power comes back, the game shows an “UP NEPA!” mood boost of +10 for 2 hours.
Which one to buy
For a first home the lamp is the cheapest safety net. A generator costs ₦14,400 plus ₦1,200 for every 8 hours you run it, so the fuel passes the solar price after roughly 53 refuels, about 18 game days of running it all the time. For anyone staying more than a few weeks, solar at ₦78,000 is the permanent answer. Do not buy the air conditioner before you have solar or a generator, since it goes dead in every cut.
How often are there power cuts?
Power cuts are random events in the game’s data. We did not see one during our checks, so we cannot say how often they happen or how long they last. We will update this page after we do. Meanwhile see the full list of furniture and prices, and the slang guide for what NEPA means.
