Nepo vs Lapo in Lagos Life: Birth Lottery Numbers
Nepo vs Lapo in Lagos Life: ₦500,000, a Lekki flat, a car and a bank job, or a ₦60,000 loan and a hustle bonus. Exact numbers and which start is better.
In Lagos Life you do not choose your origin. When you create your account the game draws one for you, and it is locked to that account. A Nepo Baby starts with ₦500,000, a furnished Lekki flat, a car and a Branch Manager job. A Lapo Baby starts with a ₦60,000 loan, a cheap room and a faster-learning hustle. This page has the exact numbers, checked against the game on October 6, 2026.
The two starts side by side

| Debt | None | ₦72,000 owed, repaid at ₦12,000 per week for 6 weeks |
| Home | Furnished Lekki mini-flat, Daddy pays the rent | Your choice of UNILAG hall (₦1,200 per week), Mushin (₦2,400) or Yaba (₦6,000) |
| Car | Yes, you only buy fuel (the transport panel calls it “Daddy’s Prado”, see cars) | No |
| Job | Branch Manager (Banking level 3) at ₦31,500 per shift from day one | None, you apply in the Jobs app |
| Skills | No special bonus | Hustle starts at level 2 and every skill is learned 25% faster |
| Home upgrades | Already in Lekki | Lekki and above are locked until you earn your way up |
It is random, and it is permanent
The home selection screen says the origin is “decided once for your account” and that starting a new life will not change it. We drew Lapo Baby on our test account and saw the message first-hand. There is no reset button in the game that re-rolls the draw.
What the Lapo loan really costs
The loan pays you ₦60,000 and you owe ₦72,000, so the cost of borrowing is ₦12,000. You repay ₦12,000 each week for six weeks. After picking Yaba, a Lapo Baby’s starting wallet is ₦96,000, which is ₦36,000 of starting money plus the ₦60,000 loan. Mushin shows ₦76,000 and the UNILAG hall shows ₦14,000.
Missing a loan payment
Other player guides report that if you miss the ₦12,000 weekly repayment, 10% of that payment (₦1,200) is added as a penalty. We have not tested this yet; the Bank app did not list the loan on the day we looked, so we will check on the first Saturday.
Which start is better?
On paper, Nepo is far ahead in week one. A Branch Manager at ₦31,500 per shift working five shifts earns ₦157,500 a week before expenses and pays no rent. A Lapo Baby in Yaba working five Tech intern shifts at ₦9,900 earns ₦49,500 a week and pays ₦6,000 rent plus ₦12,000 on the loan, leaving ₦31,500.
The gap is real, but not permanent. Every career in the game can be climbed, the top pay is similar across careers (₦60,000 to ₦99,000 per shift), and the Lapo bonus makes skills, which gate promotions, come faster. Our jobs and salaries guide lists every ladder.
- Nepo Baby Branch Manager, 5 shifts × ₦31,500; no rent ₦157,500
- Lapo Baby, before costs Tech Intern, 5 shifts × ₦9,900 ₦49,500
- Lapo Baby, after rent and loan Yaba ₦6,000 rent + ₦12,000 loan repayment ₦31,500
Per week, from the game data: five shifts, before food and travel. Nepo Baby pays no rent.
How we checked this
The Lapo numbers were checked on a real Lapo Baby account on October 6, 2026. The Nepo numbers come from the game’s own data tables and the Nepo description text, and we have not played a Nepo account because the draw is locked per account. If you have a Nepo Baby account, tell us what your first screen shows.
One thing that confuses people: on October 6 our test account also received a one-time ₦1,000,000 gift from the Lagos Life team, so wallets in screenshots can show over ₦1,096,000. That is not the starting amount.
